Our research projects, information about associated centres and visiting staff. The Row Fogo Centre for Research into Ageing and the Brain is committed to the delivery of world-leading science to advance knowledge of small vessel diseases, their effects on patients, their prevention and treatment. Much of our work depends on computational image analysis algorithms, developed in our centre, which have improved the ability of advanced medical imaging to detect subtle early brain damage from small vessel disease. This is improving the diagnosis, prevention and ultimately treatment of small vessel diseases. Row Fogo Research Projects Small Vessel Diseases (SVDs) play central role in causing brain damage leading to neurodegenerative disease (e.g., dementia) and stroke. SVD often starts silently and builds up over several years before it is noticed by the affected person. SVD is still not fully understood, and prevention and treatment remain limited.
