Our research projects, information about associated centres, and visiting staff. The Row Fogo Centre for Research into Ageing and the Brain is committed to the delivery of world-leading science to advance knowledge of small vessel diseases, their effects on patients, their prevention and treatment. Much of our work depends on computational image analysis algorithms, developed in our centre, which have improved the ability of advanced medical imaging to detect subtle early brain damage from small vessel disease. This is improving the diagnosis, prevention and ultimately treatment of small vessel diseases. This timeline depicts key milestones in the evolving understanding of cerebral small vessel disease (SVD)—a major contributor to stroke, dementia, and other neurological conditions. From early pathological observations to the development of imaging technology and the latest advances in genetics, this timeline traces how scientific and clinical insights have shaped our knowledge of this complex and critical area of brain health. Row Fogo Research Projects At the Row Fogo Centre for Research into Ageing and the Brain, we bring together scientific specialities and advanced brain imaging methods from clinical and preclinical research, to accelerate discoveries about mechanisms of SVD and other common brain disorders, their causes and treatment. Visiting Students and Fellows We support the development of early career researchers in small vessel diseases from national and international Universities and Hospitals.
