Professor Maiken Nedergaard received 2022 Sleep Research Society Award

Professor Maiken Nedergaard has recently received the 2022 Sleep Research Society Award.

The Sleep Research Society (SRS) has selected four scientists as recipients of the 2022 Sleep Research Society awards, recognising excellence in sleep and circadian research.

 The winners will be announced during the SLEEP 2022 conference.

About Professor Maiken Nedergaard

The Nedergaard group established at the University of Copenhagen (Denmark) is primarily interested in the function of glial cells in the CNS, and the involvement of astrocytes in several neurological diseases.

The Nedergaard group have established techniques to allow macroscopic fluorescent optical imaging of perivascular glymphatic transport that will be utilised in order to determine whether SVD results from pathological suppression of perivascular glymphatic fluid transport.

Professor Maiken Nedergaard and her research group works closely with the Fondation Leducq Transatlantic Network of Excellence - Perivascular Spaces in Small Vessel Disease research consortium as one of the collaborators.
