Chris Lerpiniere is a senior research nurse with the Research to Understand Stroke due to Haemorrhage (RUSH) team in the Centre for Clinical Brain Sciences. RUSH seeks to understand the cause of brain haemorrhage.

Chris spearheads the approach to patients (or their relatives) for consent to banking brain tissue from patients who die following intracerebral haemorrhage. In the words of her nominator, Prof. Rustam al-Shahi Salman, "She handles this challenging task with the utmost sensitivity, tact, compassion and a breath-taking calmness that puts patients and their relatives at ease."

All of this makes Chris a role model for research nurses, and an indispensable member of my team.

"Chris goes the extra mile to see patients and their relatives at their convenience, rather than hers. Furthermore, Chris has stretched her role to supporting recruitment to randomised controlled trials that seek treatments to improve the outcome of this untreatable disease."

"In the last year Chris inspired a junior nurse studying for a Masters in Research Nursing, who consequently applied for and has been awarded a Stroke Association Postgraduate Fellowship to conduct a PhD with the RUSH programme."

Many congratulations Chris from everyone in CCBS!
