June 2017: Congratulations to clinical research fellow Yvonne Chun, who has received the John D Matthews Award 2016–2017 for academic excellence in the Centre for Clinical Brain Sciences. Image Yvonne's Chief Scientist Office-funded clinical academic fellowship focuses on identifying clinical subtypes of anxiety disorder post-stroke, and using these data to inform a cognitive behavioural therapy intervention.Yvonne will be designing and testing the feasibility of various web-based processes in a pilot randomised trial of this intervention. Her long-term goal is to design large-scale efficient web-enabled randomised controlled trials. I am honoured to receive the John D Matthews Award for 2016-2017. CCBS provides an excellent environment for PhD students to develop their research skills and independence. I have enjoyed the privilege of working with leading researchers in stroke, neurology and psychiatry.I plan to use the John D Matthews Award to acquire additional training in medical informatics— skills that will greatly enhance my ability to design clinical research studies of the future.
