Edinburgh Neuroscience leaps to 3rd place in UK REF2014. Image Edinburgh Neuroscience's combined submission to the 'Psychology, Psychiatry and Neuroscience' panel for the UK-wide Research Excellence framework (REF) places it 3rd in the UK for research power, with the proportion of 4* (i.e. world leading) outputs having more than doubled since RAE2008. Edinburgh strives to provide a dynamic, supportive and creative environment for our researchers and this was reflected in a maximum 100% 4* score for our research environment. For the first time the impact of research in the UK was assessed and Edinburgh Neuroscience research performed extremely well, with 81% of its impact being rated as 4*. This is particularly pleasing as it is underpinned by many real improvements in human healthcare and reductions in patient suffering as a result of our research. This podium finish for Edinburgh Neuroscience is a tremendous achievement, recognition of the power and impact of our integrated community and clear proof that Edinburgh provides one of the UK's great research locations for Neuroscience.
