PhD student, Benjamin Jin, won the best presentation in the first Clinical Applications Session at the SINAPSE Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM). Benjamin Jin presenting at SINAPSE ASM 2026 The annual SINAPSE ASM was held on 16 June at the John McIntyre Conference Centre, Edinburgh.SINAPSE is a consortium of six Scottish universities, Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow, St Andrews, Stirling and Strathclyde with partners in the NHS and industry. SINAPSE has created a collaborative research environment in which world-class expertise and facilities are used to put Scottish Imaging Research on the world stage. Our areas of expertise include:MRI and advanced techniquesPET and SPECT molecular imaging; especially radiochemistryEEG and fMRI (cognitive neuroimaging)Image analysis, including deep learning in medical imagingImaging trialsPartnership workingBenjamin Jin, a trained computer scientist who is in his 3rd year of his PhD in Precision Medicine, was awarded a prize for his talk, "“QuantIAC – An Externally Validated Tool for Automated Quantification of Intracranial Arterial Calcification from CT Head”.Overall, the day included a range of fantastic talks, parallel sessions, posters and two keynote speeches, emphasising the extensive range of work in the medical imaging world.
